New version 1.25 of the CPS for the old CS700

I just posted version 1.25 of the CPS to match the firmware I put on the website a few days ago. Have not had time to put this on the Connect Systems website or even test it.

CPS V1.25 download and installed on a Win 7 PC.  Reads existing codeplug and writes to radio OK.  Nuisance Delete is now an option in the Button Definitions drop-down.

Now waiting for a busy channel to see if Nuisance Delete works!

CS750 Programming crashes

My programming software crashes and says cant open or cant create xlsx files or something like that when I try to import contacts from a 700 codeplug.  I was following directions from the file conversion utility CS700 Data Exporter.

Any others have same issue?  I thought it was discussed here earlier.  I just got on the list recently.

Your problem is not having Excel installed.  I use Open Office.  I ordered a copy of Office96 off EBay.

I use LibreOffice which is free, and import works great.

Some clarifications on CSI software

Just a quick response to some of the questions -

The new firmware (V2.19) and CPS (V1.25) for the CS700 offer corrected DTMF signaling (I believe the * key is working correctly now) and Nuisance Channel Delete during scanning mode. Microphone gain is not included in this firmware, which is being provided by the previous consulting group.

The Data Extractor software pulls out Contacts and Channels data. The older Contact Manager software written by Tom Wheeler is still available on his website, but the extracted data will need adjustments before it can be imported into the CS750 CPS. It will also only get the contacts data.

The CPS currently requires Microsoft Excel, 2003 or later. We are aware

Exporting CS700 .rdt to Excel .csv files for Import to CS750

PC Program for CS750/CS751
Version 3.03.20

Extracts data from CS700 .rdt files and saves to Excel files.

I used this application and was able to import and use my old CS700 .rdt contact data and channel data into my CS750 radios. However, it does not copy or set up any Zone Aliases or Scan Aliases (for lack of a better word ... files). And, it is important to match Contact Names from DMR Services to the Zone Aliases. What happened to the RX Group List? That seems to work within the Zone Aliases ?

I spent about 8 hours working to export the CS700 .rdt and then to import it into the CS750, and re-make all of the Zones, Scan Lists. A lot of it works but there's a lot I have not tested yet.

CS750 front face programable

CS750 I assumed it was front face programable? im just curious if i missed a step in the updates? thank you for any help on this topic would be helpfull..

Answer::

If you look carefully at our web site you will notice that is planned for the near future with a simple firmware upgrade you could do yourself for free.

The first upgrade will be expanded channels and expanded contacts.
The second or third upgrade will be front panel programming and visually impaired support.
The next upgrade will be user defined Apps
After that it is dependent on what the amateur community wants.

750 periodically reboots.

I just purchased a 750 and periodically it just reboots. Sometimes it will reboot once, and other times it will keep going until i turn the power switch off.

Has anyone else has this happen ?

Answer :
Make sure you have the latest firmware. If you do, try to figure out what is causing it to reboot so we can reproduce it and tell the manufacturer how to duplicate what you are seeing so they can fix the problem. There is nothing worse than telling a programmer it does not work but you cannot show it too them. We are getting some specialized test equipment that will be able to hopefully figure these problems out in a way that can be duplicated.

How and When To Upgrade the CS700 To CS750

CS700 -> CS750 Upgrade length

How long are the upgrades to CS750 taking on average?  Mine was scheduled for Monday 6/8 and I am on the east coast so I figure the shipping back is at least 5-7 business days.  Is that what others have seen?

I want to have my CS700 upgraded to the CS750. The question I have is should I send it in now or wait? Does the CS750 have all the features proposed or is the firmware not up to snuff?

Oh, the other factor to consider is that further firmware updates will be self service, just like they are now for the 700.

Absolute NOOB Question About Talkgroups On The CS750

absolute NOOB question about Talkgroups

Question::
I got my radio today.  Did a codeplug, loaded the radio.  It works!

Using the DMR-MARC repeater map, I can click to see what talkgroups are in the repeater.

QUESTION:  Can I talk on talkgroups that are not listed in the repeater?

CS750 Contacts Manager Program

Havent used it myself, but you may be able to use the CS700 Contacts Manager Program to export what you need, then import it with the CS750 CSR.

Get the program in the CSIDMR Group here

Convert The CS700 Code plug To The CS750 How To

From: Jerry Wanger
Date: June 9, 2015

Here is why it will not work.

To transfer from one radio to another you need all the parameters stored in the same memory location in both radios. There is only one way it can be done. That is if the original designer of the CS700 gave the new designer the information to do it and the new designer believed he had to maintain some compatibility between radios. Unless the manufacturer lied to me, he told me he had no information on the structure of the original code plug. If he did he would then make the conversion utility between the CS700 to the CS750. We paid someone a few thousand dollars to make a utility to do the conversion of the channels between the two radios. That required him to reverse engineer the original code plug.

export 700 *.rdt file and import it the the 750 software

I keep seeing email about excel and with the 750 program. But I have
NEVER seen any help on how to do export 700 *.rdt file and import it the the 750 software.

The 700 program file does NOT have an export function. I am using
windows office 2013

CS750/751 Contacts

Question:
I also have a few questions about using contacts in the CS750/751 radios.

First, I understood from other reading that when an individual’s contact information is entered into the code plug, their name information (or whatever is given in the “Contact Name” field) will display on the radio instead of the caller’s DMR ID number. That is not happening on my radios. Does anyone have any ideas?  *** ADD CONTACT LIST ***

Second, my attempts to import contacts into a code plug have failed to date. When I try, I get a pop-up window saying only “Import Contact failed!” Any thoughts on how to make that work? Exporting contacts works fine.
